Brandi Buchman, Writer and Reporter

Up close and personal reporting for 10 years and counting

Brandi Buchman has spent the last decade entrenched in legal reporting as well as covering the U.S. national political beat with a focus on Congress, the White House and the U.S. Justice Department. She prides herself on writing reports that invite readers in so they can digest complex or important stories in a way that sticks and helps inform the decisions they make about the world they live in.

She covered former President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, his single-term presidency, both of his impeachments and a number of criminal and civil trials involving Trump-world officials and confidantes like Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn. When the U.S. Capitol came under siege on Jan. 6, 2021, Buchman was on the ground and it triggered a new chapter of her career: She began to focus her work entirely on the aftermath of the insurrection.

Buchman covered the formation and rise of the U.S. House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol and later, reported on the committee’s work live and in-depth, ultimately receiving a citation in the committee’s final report. She went on to cover both of the marathon Oath Keepers and Proud Boys seditious conspiracy trials live from the federal courthouse in Washington, D.C., and is currently writing a book about the historic trials.
